ABERNATHEY, Harrison Elmer

Harrison Elmer Abernathey, age 65, resident of 1302 Fifth Street, died unexpectedly at 8:45 o'clock Wednesday night, July 29, 1953, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Danville, where he had been a patient since Monday.  He had not been feeling well for the past two weeks and had entered the hospital this week for observation. He was born June 16 1888 in Fulton Township, the son of Thomas and Amy Richardson Abernathey.  He was married June 27 1914 to Mary E. Lawson, who survives.  Mr. Abernathey was a member of the UB Church of Coal Creek and the Modern Woodman Lodge of Cates.   He had farmed in the Cates community until he moved to Covington in 1943.  Mr. Abernathey is survived by his wife; his father and one son Wayne L. Abernathey, all of Covington.  He was preceded in death by one son, Thomas L . The body will remain at the Bodine & Shelby Funeral Home until time for the funeral which will be conducted at 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Covington Baptist Church. The Rev. H. A. Lashbrook of Dunkirk and the Rev. Glenn Ray pastor of the local church, will officiate.  Burial will be in Snoddy's Cemetery, south of Covington.
